Set a duration, test the sound, then start

Choose a preset or enter hours, minutes and seconds, then press Start. Pause freezes the remaining duration; Resume starts from that remaining amount. Reset restores the selected duration. After completion, Start again repeats the same duration with one click. You can change the duration while paused or stopped; changing it resets the countdown.

A practical rehearsal

For a seven-minute presentation, set 0 hours, 7 minutes and 0 seconds. Press Test sound and check your speaker volume before starting. Keep the countdown visible beside your notes. If you pause halfway through to revise a slide, resume to finish the remaining time. To measure the whole presentation without a limit instead, use the stopwatch.

Save a preset without another page

The preset links all use this same timer. The “Link to this duration” link updates when you change the fields; bookmark it or copy its address. It stores the selected number of seconds in the URL, not a running session. Opening it prepares the duration but does not start automatically. Start still requires a user action.

What happens in a background tab?

The timer stores a target time and recalculates the remaining duration, instead of subtracting one second for every callback. A periodic check handles completion separately from the display, and returning to the tab checks again. However, browsers and operating systems can suspend background work and audio. A late callback can mean a late sound. Keep the page visible and the device awake when the alert matters.

Closing or reloading the tab discards the running countdown. Changing the device clock while a timer runs can change the remaining duration because its deadline uses device time. This is a convenience timer, not a replacement for a dedicated alarm when missing an alert would have serious consequences.
