Choose a tempo and listen for a steady reference
BPM means beats per minute. At 60 BPM, beats are one second apart; at 120 BPM, they are half a second apart. Start slowly enough to play a passage evenly, then change tempo in small steps. Tap tempo estimates the pace from your repeated taps; a single tap is not a meaningful tempo measurement.
The click depends on browser scheduling and audio permissions. Keep the page visible and the device awake. A busy browser can introduce timing variation, so use a dedicated audio metronome when precise practice or recording synchronization is required. Speaker volume and device latency affect what you hear.
