Online Stopwatch
A free digital stopwatch with lap splits, displayed to hundredths of a second. Works entirely in this tab — no download, no sign-up.
A simple online stopwatch
Press Start to begin timing and Stop (Pause) to freeze the clock — the stopwatch keeps running in hundredths of a second so you can time anything from a workout set to a science experiment. Use Lap while it's running to record a split without stopping the clock; each lap shows both its total elapsed time and the time since the previous lap.
Because it runs entirely in your browser, you can pause it, switch tabs, and come back — the elapsed display catches up when callbacks resume; device sleep can affect elapsed-time behavior. Reset clears the stopwatch and any recorded laps.
Common uses for a stopwatch
- Timing runs, laps, or interval training sets
- Cooking and baking when you need second-level precision
- Public speaking or presentation rehearsal
- Board games, quizzes, or classroom activities
Does the stopwatch keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. It tracks real elapsed time rather than counting ticks, so pausing your browser tab or switching away doesn't throw off the reading.
Can I record more than one lap?
Yes, there's no limit — press Lap as many times as you like while the stopwatch is running, and every split is listed with its delta from the previous one.
Is there a countdown version of this?
Yes — if you want to count down instead of up, use the countdown timer.
Reading elapsed time and laps
Start begins counting from zero. Record a lap at each milestone, such as the end of a rehearsal section. Pause excludes the break from the elapsed total; Reset clears both the total and the lap list. A lap split is useful for comparing sections of the same activity, while total elapsed time tells you the duration of the whole run.
The displayed decimal places describe the display resolution, not independently certified measurement accuracy. The browser uses a monotonic elapsed-time clock, but device sleep behavior varies across systems. Keep the device awake for a comparable result. For a fixed finish time with sound, use the countdown timer.
